What do we offer?
Expert language skills: our experienced interpreters are affiliated to professional bodies including the AIIC, Institute of Translation and Interpreting or Institute of Linguists.
Our skilled and experienced interpreters all adhere to a stringent Code of Practice that guarantees strict standards of accuracy, impartiality, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. We can also supply interpreters who have undergone Criminal Records Bureau checks.
A professional approach: effective interpretation requires more than excellent language skills. All our interpreters are skilled communicators with a clear understanding of the cultural and language requirements of the business world
A complete service: our interpreters can welcome guests as soon as they arrive in a country and ensure that every aspect of their stay is catered for during both business and social situations
Equipment hire: we can supply and set up interpreting equipment required for meetings and conferences, including wireless transmitters to avoid the need for cabling and booths. We can also provide skilled technicians to operate the equipment.
Which type of interpreting do you need?
Comtec offers three types of interpreting services:
Consecutive interpreting: commonly used in one-to-one meetings and small groups. The interpreter listens to a section of speech and then, during a pause, translates it into the relevant language, either word for word or in summary.
Simultaneous interpreting: the interpreter works in real time, translating information as it is spoken. Simultaneous interpreting is often used in tele/video links or at major conferences and events, where interpreters usually work in sound proofed booths, communicating with delegates via a microphone and headsets. For smaller events only a radio microphone and headsets are necessary.
Telephone interpreting: this option can be set up at short notice and so is useful for emergency situations. Telephone interpreting requires no face-to-face contact and is valuable for sensitive situations. Travel and expenses are eliminated, making this a particularly cost-effective form of interpreting. What does interpreting cost?
Interpreting costs vary according to the combination of languages, duration of the assignment, subject matter, location and number of people involved. Call us today to find out how we can help. We can then put together a quotation which best meets your requirements.
BSL and SSE interpreting
Comtec also offers specialist interpreting services for deaf or hard-of-hearing people, including British Sign Language (BSL), Sign Supported English (SSE), lip speaking and hands on signing. Working in a variety of settings, including conferences, training events and meetings, our registered BSL and SSE interpreters help to convey the feeling and tone of what is being said, as well as the meaning.
