All our translators and interpreters are selected based on a rigorous assessment process. They work only into their native language and must have a specialist understanding of particular industry sectors as well as in-depth cultural knowledge of the target countries.

Interpreting
Multilingual businesses present specific challenges, which is why Comtec offers a complete interpreting service in all major languages. Our project managers can advise you from planning to completion and ensure you have the appropriate specialist interpreters. We can also arrange any necessary equipment.

The types of interpreting we offer include:

• Simultaneous interpreting

Ideal for large multilingual events and conferences, our interpreter translates while simultaneously listening to the next sentence. This will usually be fed through headphones at large conferences or whispered in smaller venues.

• Consecutive interpreting

This is better suited to smaller, more informal meetings. The interpreter will wait for a suitable pause before translating.

• Liaison interpreting

Also known as face-to-face interpreting, this is also idea for informal situations. The interpreter will translate and whisper consecutively.

Once the mode of interpreting has been established, Comtec liaises between clients and interpreters to provide background information and coordination.

Website Localisation
Producing a website in another language is just the start of the process. For maximum impact and success, the website must be localised to ensure its suitability for the target market. This ensures that images, icons and cultural content are considered, as well as local conventions on time/date displays, currency, measurements systems and legal issues.

Desktop publishing (DTP)
Our DTP studio is fully equipped with a broad range of software packages on both PC and Mac platforms.
Combining our design and language skills with a thorough understanding of the print process, we work with clients, their communications agencies and printers to produce high quality documents, brochures and magazines, translated and ready to go to print.
Designers & translators work together to ensure that the translated documents look as good as the original.
Skilled operators prepare the texts for translation, enabling their integration with translation memory tools, then incorporate the new text back into the document. Our DTP service also extends to languages that use a different character set to the standard European, such as Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Urdu.
