Translation services for market research questionnaires
|
The client
The GfK Group is one of the largest market research companies in the world. With offices spanning over 100 countries, GfK’s clients rely on the data supplied to make their marketing decisions.
Reliable translations are a must to ensure their message is communicated effectively on a global level.
GfK have many other strings to their international bow, including a Mystery Shopping service that contributes to improving customer service across the retail sector.
The task
Comtec recently supported GfK NoP with translation of market research questionnaires into Norwegian and Dutch. As part of the service, Comtec carried out a checking service once the surveys went live. This involved a native speaker posing as a user to pick up on any technical bugs before the questionnaire was released to the markets.
GfK MysteryShopping recently had a more unique request for Comtec: they required a speech-to-text reporter to attend their training sessions. A speech-to-text reporter provides a service similar to live subtitles on the television, using a phonetic keyboard to display the speaker’s words onto a screen in real-time. This service is invaluable to hard-of-hearing participants, who might otherwise struggle to follow the intricacies of the session, or to deaf participants who are unfamiliar with British Sign Language.
Comtec’s solution
- Specialist translators with industry-specific experience and an eye for detail
- Clear understanding of client requirements through detailed briefing
- Latest translation memory software used to ensure accuracy and consistency in style and terminology
- Provision of a trained speech-to-text reporter to the client’s premises
